Paper Object Festival

June 27 - July 20, 2014

Pārdaugava Cityscape and Kalnciema Quarter, Rīga, Latvia

Paper Object Festival took place at the Kalnciema Quarter and the surrounding neighborhood, focusing on exploring paper related forms, textures, traditions and ideas in Pārdaugava’s urban environment.

Most of festival’s artists were from Japan — a culture that honors paper as a building material, philosophy, aesthetic, emotion and a way of life. All of the paper artworks were created in Riga and, starting from 27 June, displayed in seven locations in Kalnciema Quarter and Pārdaugava within a walking distance of each other. The festival also had a rich public events program throughout its occurrence from 27 June to July 20, 2014.

The festival was organised by Kalnciema Quarter, curated by Una Meiberga, in collaboration with EU–Japan Fest Committee, foundation «Riga 2014» and Riga City council. It was part of Riga - European Capital of Culture 2014 program.
